Legal Aid & Access to Justice
About Course
This one-hour training course on Legal Aid and Access to Justice is designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of how justice systems function and how legal aid serves as a bridge for vulnerable and underrepresented communities.
Delivered under the initiatives of the Pakistan Justice & Rights Initiative (PJ&RI), the session features insights from an experienced judicial officer, focusing on real-world challenges within the legal system of Pakistan.
The course explores the meaning and importance of legal aid, the concept of access to justice, and the existing legal aid infrastructure at district and provincial levels. It also highlights the role of lawyers, judges, and civil society in ensuring equal treatment before the law.
A key focus of the course is the importance of legal awareness in society, especially through modern tools such as social media, and how legal professionals can contribute to public education while maintaining professional integrity and competence.
Participants also gain insight into systemic challenges such as lack of awareness, communication gaps, affordability barriers, and institutional limitations, along with practical solutions to improve access to justice.
By the end of the course, learners will have a foundational understanding of the Rule of Law, legal aid mechanisms, and their role in promoting a fair and accessible justice system.
